Colour Crushes & Trends: Emerald

Tuesday, January 15, 2013
Pantone's Color of the Year 2013 is emerald, not one of my favourites.  I guess it was the visions of early 90s decor of green paired with burgundy that came to my mind that was influencing my thoughts.  I do have to admit, though, that as I'm seeing it crop up all over the place, it's definitely growing on me.  It may not have been around much in recent years, but it's making a strong resurgence in the fashion world, and childrenswear is no exception:

I'm loving emerald accented with navy and white.  Who knows...it may even make an appearance in my own upcoming Spring Collection!

So, thoughts?  Loving the green, or no?

  1. I love green, so the more the better, but I can't really wear the color (it makes me look like I'm ill). However, some of my kids look good in it and I love it when they wear it.

    1. Same here, I can't wear it, either, but I think my children can get away with it. :)

  2. Looking through my tutorials, I also see a lot of emerald with navy and white, or navy and gray. Seems to be a favorite color combo of mine. And I LOVE some of this clothing! How cute are those striped shift dresses?

  4. If we had a dollar for every time we've said, "YOU KNOW....Emerald is Pantone's Color of the Year", we'd be rich women......okay, we've been quite obsessed with it since the announcement. Haven't come up with an outfit for the nieces YET, but are looking for inspiration to strike. Paired with navy is a nice color palette .... for girls OR boys! Can't wait to see your creation{s}...

    1. I know, it's like someone's making a dollar every time the word emerald is mentioned! HA! It's such a sophisticated colour for little ones, but designed right, it can really work! I'm sure you'll come with the perfect outfits for your nieces...you always do. :)
