I {Heart} Marcel Marlier Sewing Series and Giveaway

Thursday, October 23, 2014

Have you heard about the I {Heart} Marcel Marlier? It's a delightful sewing series hosted by both An from Straightgrain and Suz from Sewpony.  Admittedly, when they approached me to participate, I was not very familiar with author Marcel Marlier.  While I'll let you read more about him on they're blogs, I will say this, I love what I have seen of his books, and the illustrations are full of inspiring vintage outfits.  The main character is an adorable little girl (whose name changes depending on which language you are reading), however, rather than creating an outfit inspired by her, I chose to make something for my son instead.  I noticed the little boys' shirts in the drawings below, and saw a resemblance to a pattern I've been wanting to try for some time (Charlie by Zonen 09).

Aren't the drawings absolutely beautiful?!

Despite very wet weather, I managed to get some photos of Tobias' new Marcel Marlier inspired outfit prior to a complete wipe out in the mud immediately after he frolicked across the field for the re-enactment photo above.  I thought of taking some photos of the aftermath, but he was so upset, I just didn't have the heart to document it.  With a good washing, all will be well with his new outfit.
