My name is Heidi, and I blog about what I make at my home in Canada. My love for arts & crafts, cooking, and baking began when I was very young, having watched my mom create things from scratch. While she would usually knit, you would often find me with a needle and thread in hand and scraps of fabric all over my room. I was always in the middle of a project of some sort, with too many unfinished projects around (this hasn't changed!).

Before my mom taught me to sew, her mother taught her, and on the other side of my family, my paternal grandmother sewed all her five children's clothing by hand.  Carrying on this family tradition of stitching has become a passion of mine, which gives me lots of content to share with you!

I have set a personal goal of no longer buying anything for my children's wardrobes that I am able to make myself.  I love looking through their closets now and seeing that my handmade garments outnumber the store-bought ones.

I married my best friend, Michael, in 2003.  We met at the private Christian school we were both attending.  He was in grade eight and I, in grade 12, but we didn't start dating until a decade later.  I ended up teaching Choir and Band at that same school for seven years until I became a stay-at-home mom to our boy, Tobias.  Two and a half years after he was born, we were blessed by the birth of our baby girl, Anja, and now our family is complete.

I hope to inspire others to enjoy this passion I have for the handmade.  Teaching is in my nature, and if I can pass on a tip, technique, or tutorial, or inspire you in any way, this blog has served the purpose for which it was created.

Thank you for stopping by!
