Another Kids' Choice series winner is here to share the creations made with her winnings.  Amy blogs over at SewsNBows and inspires with her beautiful sewing.  It such a pleasure to have her here today!  Thank you, Amy!

I'm Amy from SewsNBows. It's so nice to visit today! A while back I won the Kids' Choice celebration here at E&E, and got to order some beautiful knits from L'Oiseau Fabrics. I wanted to stop by and tell you about the experience.

L'Oiseau Fabrics

The store owner (Michelle) was extremely friendly and helpful. I confessed to her that it's difficult for me to purchase knit fabric online. I need to touch it!! She was so kind, and helped me choose a variety of Euro fabrics that have been knocking my socks off. I've already made my second order...and since I've tried a little of each type of knit, I don't feel like I can go wrong. It's my new place:) "Menagerie" Stenzo jersey knit from L'Ouseau This fabric is Menagerie; a Stenzo jersey knit. The Stenzo knits are absolutely magical to sew with. They are so soft, with a ton of stretch. The best part is, they look exactly the same after every wash. No fading or pilling. Perfect for undies! (And pretty much everything else.) "Plum & Ginger Stripes" jersey knit from L'Ouseau Fabrics I Made this dress with Plum & Ginger Stripes. It was the first successful garment I ever made for myself. It feels so good to wear! This costs a little less than the premium Stenzo, and still such good quality. It has a billowy drape, and still tons of stretch in all 4 directions. I have enough left to make a t-shirt; and I should really make something for my daughter. But I won't. The leftovers are mine too. "Menagerie" Stenzo jersey knit from L'Ouseau Fabrics
Here's some more of the Menagerie print in action. I didn't even notice that I sewed it upside down until I uploaded this photo. Since it wears so well, I'll be able to chop and stitch this into something else once it's outgrown. Something else right side up. Stars! in baby blue: Stenzo jersey knit from L'Ouseau Fabrics I wrote a knit waistband tutorial using this L'Oiseau fabric. It's another Stenzo print; Stars! in baby blue. There are several other colors available in this print. Guess what pattern I hacked for these shorts? Heidi's Bubble Pocket Shorts! Woven print from L'Ouseau Fabrics
L'Oiseau also carries some nice poplin, denim, corduroy, & velour. I couldn't find any more of this poplin print in the shop; but there are so many pretties that you can't find anywhere else. I love this floral print with birds sooo much! Spin Skirt
I used it to make the Spin Skirt, and I'm showing it on my blog today. If you'd like to see some more L'Oiseau fabric in action, head to my place to see my why Heidi's Spin Skirt is this month's Tween Pattern Showcase!

  1. I don't like purchasing knit fabric online, either, Amy. Some gorgeous fabrics you've chosen.

  2. I've only just started with knits so the tips are great. I didn;t notice it was upside down either until you pointed it out but somehow it works, like crazy cool!
